Electric Vehicle Integration in Tribal Tourism Belts in Central Indian States

The International Institute for Energy Conservation Pvt. Ltd. (IIECPL) is supporting the International Institute for Energy Conservation (IIEC) in developing a sustainable tourism model that integrates technological innovation with the preservation of tribal heritage and the natural environment in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh by introducing Electric Vehicles (EVs) powered by renewable energy in designated low-emission zones.

The project aims to enhance income opportunities for local communities, particularly women, through various enterprises, thereby generating substantial employment while reducing pollution from traditional internal combustion engine vehicles. By enriching the tourist experience and safeguarding local ecosystems and culture, the project aligns with the PM-JANMAN Scheme to provide sustainable livelihoods for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).

The project is expected to develop a Sustainable Tourism Model and Toolkit to help in identifying 2-4 EV pilot projects based on local needs and infrastructure, focusing on policy recommendations, business planning, and integrating renewable energy solutions like solar-powered charging stations and battery swapping.
